Dubai Visits Visa Online Application Form
Quick summary:The right Dubai visa for Anguilla citizens depends on the passport you carry. A full British Citizen passport currently gets a free visa on arrival in the UAE. An Anguilla-issued British Overseas Territories Citizen (BOTC) passport should be checked before you book, as it may need a visa arranged in advance.
Which Passport Will You Show at Dubai Immigration?
Most Anguillians are British Overseas Territories Citizens. Under the British Overseas Territories Act 2002, most BOTCs also became full British citizens. This means many people from Anguilla can hold two different British passports. Before you plan a Dubai visa from Anguilla, check which one you will travel on, because the UAE treats them differently.
Full British Citizen passport
UK travel advice says full British Citizen passport holders get a free visitor visa on arrival in the UAE, with no advance application. The stay can be up to 90 days within a 180-day period, taken as one trip or split across several.
Anguilla-issued BOTC passport
The UAE visa for Anguilla passport holders is less clear-cut. The free visa on arrival is not automatically extended to every type of British passport. Look at the nationality line on your bio-data page. If it says British Overseas Territories Citizen, confirm your entry route with your airline or UAE authorities before you travel. If a pre-arranged visa is required, you can learn how to apply for a Dubai visa online and submit your details before you fly.
What to Keep in Your Carry-On
Whichever passport you use, UAE immigration and your airline will expect a few basics:
-
A passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date in the UAE.
-
A confirmed return or onward ticket.
-
Your hotel booking or the address where you will stay.
-
Prior UAE Ministry of Health approval if you carry controlled medication. Visitors can bring up to 3 months' supply of normal medication, but only one month's supply of medicines on the approval list.
-
Your approved visa copy, if your passport type needed one.
Anguilla to Dubai Flights: Start With a Short Hop
There are no direct Anguilla to Dubai flights. Clayton J. Lloyd International Airport (AXA) handles regional and US routes, so your trip will begin with a connection.
The most common way out is via Princess Juliana International Airport (SXM) in St Maarten. You can reach it on a short flight of around 7 to 10 minutes, or by ferry from Blowing Point. Other options include Antigua, St Kitts or Miami. From there, you connect to a long-haul flight to Dubai.
Ferry travellers should remember that everyone leaving by ferry clears customs and immigration at Blowing Point and pays a departure tax there. Leave a safe gap before your long-haul flight.
Money: From EC Dollars to UAE Dirhams
At home you spend Eastern Caribbean dollars (XCD), which are pegged to the US dollar. The UAE dirham (AED) is also pegged to the US dollar. This makes budgeting simple: 1 US dollar buys about 2.70 EC dollars or about 3.67 dirhams. Carrying US dollars or an international card is usually simpler than trying to exchange EC dollars abroad.
Picking the Right Months
Anguilla's hurricane season runs through the second half of the year, and Dubai's summer is extremely hot. November to March is Dubai's cooler season and the most comfortable time for outdoor sightseeing. If your dates are tight or your plans changed suddenly, a Dubai express visa application can help where a pre-arranged visa is needed.
UAE Embassy and Consular Support for Anguillians
There is no UAE embassy or consulate in Anguilla. Because the UK handles Anguilla's foreign affairs, here is where to turn:
-
Before travel: UK travel advice points British nationals with UAE entry questions to the UAE Embassy in London.
-
Visa extensions in Dubai:Contact the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) Dubai.
-
Help while in the UAE: As British nationals, BOTCs can seek consular help from the British Embassy in the UAE.
After applying, you can check your Dubai visa status online before heading to the airport.
