Dubai Visits Visa Online Application Form
Bruneians have two things to plan before a Dubai trip. The visa part is easy: you get a free visa at the airport. The flight part is harder right now, because Royal Brunei Airlines has paused its Dubai route. Here is what to know before you book.
Arriving in Dubai with a Brunei Passport
The Brunei passport holders Dubai visa is issued free at UAE immigration. You do not need to apply before you travel. Brunei is on the UAE list of countries that get a 30-day visit visa on arrival.
30 Days, Not 90
Many European visitors get 90 days, so friends' advice can be confusing. Bruneian passport holders get 30 days. If you want a longer holiday, or plan to visit family for a few months, arrange a longer visa before you fly. Staying past your permitted days leads to fines.
Dubai Visa Requirements for Brunei
The Dubai visa requirements for Bruneitravellers are simple:
-
A Brunei passport valid for at least 6 months from your arrival date.
-
A return or onward ticket, in case the airline or immigration asks.
-
Your hotel booking or the address where you will stay.
-
A pre-arranged visa if you plan to stay longer than 30 days.
Flights: Royal Brunei's Dubai Service Is Paused
Royal Brunei Airlines used to stop in Dubai on its way to London. Because of the regional airspace situation, the airline has suspended Dubai flights until 28 March 2027. Its London flights now fly nonstop from Bandar Seri Begawan three times a week.
For now, most travellers take a short flight from Brunei International Airport to Singapore or Kuala Lumpur, then connect to Dubai. Check Royal Brunei's flight notices before you book, as the date may change.
Brunei Dollars in Dubai
The UAE uses the dirham (AED). The Brunei dollar is linked one-to-one with the Singapore dollar, and the two can be used side by side at home. In Dubai, many travellers find US or Singapore dollars more convenient for cash exchange, or they just use a card. Cards work in almost every mall, taxi and metro station.
Timing Your Visit
Dubai is 4 hours behind Brunei, so jet lag is mild. November to March is the best time to visit, with warm days and cool evenings. From June to September, daytime heat often goes above 40°C, much hotter than Brunei's humid but milder climate.
Check the Islamic calendar too. During Ramadan, shops and restaurants in Dubai change their hours, and the city is busy with visitors around Eid. Halal food is easy to find everywhere, and malls and the airport have prayer rooms.
Consular Contacts
The UAE foreign ministry does not list an embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan. For questions about UAE entry, you can call the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs 24/7 line on +971 800 44444. Tourist visas are not issued by UAE embassies anyway, so you do not need a mission for a holiday.
If you need help while in the UAE, contact the Embassy of Brunei Darussalam in Abu Dhabi:
